There are times when one of the horses on our farm is ready to move on and claim an owner just for him/herself.

This time has come for Dali. While he is happy with his friends here, he needs to progress with training and the development of a consistent one-on-one relationship with a human partner.

His Background

Dali has come to us as part of a herd of pmu yearlings. His earliest experience at the hand of humans was scary and painful - the herd was generally moved with the help of cattle prods. Up to the time when they arrived here, they have never experienced the gentle touch of a human hand. While Dali is mentally very willing to trust, his body still reacts to the first impulse of pulling back. This will likely diminish as his training becomes more regular.

Dali has sired a beautiful filly with our registered QH mare. As the result of being gelded at a late stage, he continues to display strong stallion behaviour. As long as he can live in a natural environment with mares or be with just geldings, he is a happy and very gentle horse.

Will have an extensive knowledge of the nature of horses
Will be an experienced horseperson
Will have a good sense of humour
Will never need to use force to teach Dali, but be patient, focussed, and persistent
Will view learning as a mutual process
Will provide Dali with an environment which includes other horses
Will be agreeable to sign a buy-back agreement
Will feel comfortable consulting us in any arising questions re. care of this horse and allow us to enquire on his wellbeing at reasonable times.
